Wow this is unbelievable.

Only 1 post (make that 2 now) in 2011 and it's already the end of October. Always wondered if one day I would grow out of blogging + msn and it seems like I may have grown out of one of them. Maybe.

Ok yes I'm very bo-liao, I actually went to calculate the number of posts per year since 2005 (maybe there's some easier way to find out).
So the time when I started to blog less was in 2009, which was when I started university.
Between 2005 and now, what has changed?

2005
I had a lot of free time.
Obviously I wasn't very worried about my 'O' levels yet because I still had time to blog. Or maybe the blogging was because I was worried, hence the increase in 2006.

I didn't care what others thought about me.
Not that I'm super self-conscious now. It's just that with the advent of social media and stuff, we're supposed to be more careful of what we post online since anyone can just do an online check on you at anytime.
I probably didn't self-edit as much as I do now too, which is why I take very long just to get 1 post out (actually this might be the main reason why I hardly blog nowadays).

Twitter/Facebook didn't exist.
The aforementioned social media probably played a part too, since most of the time the purpose of me blogging was to express my feelings somewhere (other than holiday posts). Nowadays I can just "update my status" or "tweet"!

I would never have blogged about something so 'intellectual' (or even in this format).

DOES THIS MEAN THAT I'M GETTING OLD?! :( :( :(

New iMac!

Hi everyone!

It's been more than half a year since I last blogged. I tried to blog a few times but never completed the posts, so they're still stuck as drafts.

Currently interning now and it is (or was, not sure) raining, so I'm REALLY sleepy.

Anyway I just got a new iMac, just in time for the release of OS X Lion!

Got the 21.5" model and it looks great on my desk. The 27" one would have been too big.

Bought it online because I wanted to swop the Magic Mouse (already have one) for the Magic Trackpad, and the wireless keyboard for the wired keyboard (only the wired one has a numeric keypad). It's also cheaper to buy it online if you're a student because there's the Apple education discount, although they don't actually check if you're really a student. Plus you get a free printer i.e. buy a printer at $199, then send in the rebate form.

Because I bought it after 6 June but before the release of Lion, I got it for free. And I can install it on all the other Macs at home since Apple believes in sharing, unlike their money-grabbing competitor.

Lol I totally sound like I'm doing an Apple advert. It'd be really cool to work for a company like Apple or Google though.

Alright now that I've got my first post after approximately 7 months up, hopefully there will be more to come after this. :)

So glad that my 3 year 2 papers are over already!
Left with a Marketing paper on Thursday then I'll be off to Sydney at night. Arriving back in Singapore at 11:55pm on 31st Dec so I'll be counting down to 2011 (this year is 2010 right?) in the airport. -.-

Erm really I have nothing interesting to blog about, cos studying is never interesting.
Learning is interesting, but studying for exams is not.

Hopefully I'll do better this semester.

So yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day!

Chee Wee came over at 8.30am and went to school with me for my Tax review lecture.

Here's the 2 of us looking very happy on the Pioneer shuttle bus for some reason. Probably couldn't wait to get out of school.

Had lunch at my favourite DimSum place with my family (think I forgot to take photos) then went shopping.
At this point I got really moody because I couldn't find anything nice (was looking for shoes) and I didn't know where to go. I think I have very expensive feet; nothing seems to fit me nicely and manage to look stylish at the same time.

Finally gave up on shoe-shopping and went to House @ Dempsey for dinner!

Look at the 'cake' that my mum arranged! Pretty right?!

Haha she tried to surprise me but I saw the guy flipping the dessert menu to show her what cakes were available.

Headed home after that to finally unveil my present from Chee Wee.

Tadah! Duffy now has a female friend. :)
She came with a Marc Jacobs USB keyring attached to her cheer uniform which is now hanging on my bag.

And now, it's back to studying. Maybe next year I'll have a birthday week instead!

Project HTC Day 2

Slept at 2+am last night because I tried to update my jailbroken iPhone to iOS 4.1 (yes I know I'm very slow). It kept going into DFU mode, recovery mode, and getting stuck there. After a few hours I finally managed to fix it.

So this morning I decided to download CyDelete from Cydia, only to get a system notice that Springboard crashed and my iPhone was in 'safe mode'. It also changed my wallpaper to a picture of this sad iPhone!

Couldn't stand looking at this ugly but cute picture anymore, so I had to switch back to the HTC.

If you thought that the iPhone's keypad was difficult to type on, the HTC HD Mini one is worse. The screen is too sensitive at times and the keys are really small! The phone itself is already significantly smaller than the iPhone, so just imagine how small the keys are.

The phone also lags, which makes me think that I should just go back to using my slowpoke iPhone since both are laggy.

Let's see if I can last another day!

Recently a very good friend of mine lent me her HTC HD mini, cos my iPhone is SO old. It's super super slow and the battery can only last for a day with some mail-checking and the occasional use of Tweetdeck and Facebook.

So here's the start of Project HTC!

I'm going to TRY to use the phone for maybe a week, although I seriously doubt it's going to last me that long considering I've only used it for a day and already I have problems with it.

Like just now I tried unlocking the phone (similar to iPhone; press a button on the top, then slide downwards instead of sideways) but no matter how I pressed the button, nothing appeared on the screen. Then I used another phone to call myself and it came back to life.

And the phone is almost brand new ok!

Also it hanged when I connected it to my Mac. Which brings me to another problem: Windows is so unfriendly!
It has ZERO compatibility with Mac. Won't even allow me to sync my contacts.

Sigh.

Day 1: I have a newfound sense of appreciation for my iPhone, regardless of how slow it is.

Very grateful for the Deepavali public holiday today that allowed me to finally get some real sleep.
Have been sleeping at 3+AM because of my Marketing project (which we did very well for :D).

Ok so in the time while I was gone from this blog, I managed to fail my driving test (Auto) after striking a kerb while turning left. -_-
Very very annoyed because the whole point of me learning Auto was to pass more quickly, but now since I failed, I might as well have just learnt Manual.

On a random note I just bought Mac Office 2011 and it's pretty good so far!
They finally got rid of the annoying side toolbar thing that takes up so much space, yet you can't close cos that's where you change your fonts and stuff.

Also, my sister bought the Late Nights expansion pack for The Sims 3 and I feel so tempted to play it.
You can actually become a vampire.

But unfortunately I have a test on tuesday so I'm going to study now...

AA201 mid-terms this coming Tuesday, consists of 40m open-ended and 60m for 10 MCQ QUESTIONS. That means 6 marks per question! :(

The iPad and the Magic Mouse

I've been wanting a Magic Mouse since before it was even launched (yeah yeah I know I have a MacBook with the multi-touch sensor already) but couldn't justify spending $98 on it.

So this weekend my 10 year old sister got a MacBook Pro and there was an offer to get the Magic Mouse for $49. After some bargaining, the guy agreed to sell us 2 Magic Mouses (Mice?) at $49 each, which makes it like a "buy-1-get-1-free" deal! AWESOME OR WHAT?

For those of you saying that I already have an iPhone and hence do not need an iPad, let me remind you that mine is an iPhone 3G, bought 2 years ago, which means that by now it's lagging quite badly already. Plus the iPad's screen is so much bigger, it's a totally different experience altogether.

K bye have to do my IT seminar questions now. Honestly I think I'd be much better off using IT than studying it.

Sunway Lagoon

Have some time now so I'm blogging (don't know when the next time will be though)!

Last week there was a long weekend (Fri-Sun) because of Hari Raya, so we (my family + a friend) decided to go for a short holiday in Sunway Lagoon, KL.

So after AGES, we finally found the place. No offence but Malaysia's roads are so hard to navigate! Like the people say "go straight" but the road has a fork somewhere along the way. So does straight mean left or right?

We booked 2 rooms on the club floor and my parents' room got upgraded to some sort of suite!

In the end they got upgraded again and so did we! Cos there were so many problems in the previous suite, like phone not working, safe not working, internet not working...

Day 2 (Saturday) we went to the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park.

The photos look so vibrant right? Well if you have any knowledge of lighting + photography, you'll know that the reason why the colours were captured so nicely was because it was damn freaking sunny and HOT.

This ride was so scary (not that I went on it)! It would swing you upside down and then STAY THERE for like 5 seconds or so. Seriously I felt sick just looking at it.

Hahaha we played laser tag

Dressed very unglamly cos we were all prepared to go on the water slides and stuff. Ended up going on one only because the place was SO CROWDED and the water was like really dirty and smelly.

Dinner after that at this restaurant called Dragon-i, with some people from CHC KL.

It has really good food! It's something like Crystal Jade, except it's wayyyyy better.

Day 3 (Sunday), we went to Malacca for lunch @ Jonker Street; chicken rice balls!

Spent 4 hours in the car after that traveling back to Singapore. It should have taken only 2 hours, but the traffic was really bad.

And now it's back to the reality of hectic school life. Although we did see this hot exchange student during Marketing lecture today... Woohoo something to look forward to every week hahaha.

Year 2

Hotel City (FB game) sent me an email saying this:

It's been a while, and we missed you! We've cleaned up your hotel and your staff are running a shift to welcome you back!

1st week of school has ended and I have to say that this is my busiest 1st week of school EVER.
Like at least 2 readings for each seminar for 2 of my modules, twice a week. And the readings are like those 1 chapter of your textbook type (longest so far is 36 pages).

Plus presentation next week worth 15% of my grade. Pretty darn scary.

In a dilemma now because I don't know if I should drop AB214 (some communication thing, involves 50% presentation and 50% writing) for AB112 (marketing).

AB214 has no exam, so if I take that I'll have only 3 exams this semester; super slack! Not a good thing! Plus if I take AB112 next sem then I'll have like 5 exams, assuming my elective has a final exam.

However, AB214 would give me a 3 day week from week 8 onwards, compared to potentially a 5 day week for 5 weeks with AB112, after which it'll be a 4 day week (but only marketing lecture on Thursday, so I might skip it hahaha).

Argh decisions decisions.

Yay very happy now cos I just ordered a bunch of stuff (9 items to be specific) from Gmarket!

After slowly matching the korean words and translating them to english, then back to korean, I think i can recognise the korean words for 'black' and 'white' now.

Anyway I spent the whole of last week being sick and hence sleeping a lot.
Like slept at about 11+pm on average, waking up at 10+am on days where I didn't have morning driving lessons. That's almost 12 hours of sleep, not including the naps in between (medicine made me so drowsy).

So other than taking driving lessons, nothing much has been going on.

School's starting next week though, seeing as YOG's ending this week.
We are so far behind the other schools now, I'm pretty sure they're all gonna be laughing at us when our exams end just days before Christmas.

2 days ago I was on the train and I overheard this conversation between a Korean girl and a Singaporean girl (they were talking very loudly!).

The Korean was telling the Sgporean about how common cosmetic surgery is in Korea. Like after graduating from university, 50% of them would go for cosmetic surgery.
So the Sgporean was like, "huh but then you can't show your friends all your older photos anymore 'cos you'll look different". But the Korean said no, they're very open about it, like they won't bother to hide the fact that they've undergone cosmetic surgery.

How come Singapore is so conservative?!

Anyway I went for the YOG preview last night (missed the first half of it cos we were late) and I have to say it was rather disappointing.
It was like just another NDP; in fact I can't decide which is worse, NDP or YOG opening.
Maybe I missed all the good parts. In any case, I hope the actual one is better so we don't 'lose face'.

Perth 2010 Day 5-9

Haven't blogged in the longest time, so I'm finally finishing up on the Perth trip (which was about 2 months ago now).

No pictures from day 4 and I can't remember what we did lol.

Day 5
Visited the Aquarium of Western Australia (there really isn't much to do in Perth if you don't drive to the outskirts).
It has animals from 5 different places: far north coast, coral coast, shipwreck coast, Perth coast and great southern coast. Yeah doesn't mean much right. Haha.

Anyway here are a few that I noticed:

Pineapple fish that really looks like a pineapple IMO.

This was in the aquarium that has a travelator moving around it, like in Sentosa's Underwater World.

This was outside the Aquarium building. You can't tell from the photo, but we were freezing!

Day 6
No photos again cos it was mostly spent indoors anyway.

Day 7
Finally got the chance to go fishing! Wanted to go last year but it kept raining and we had so many people with us, so we dropped the idea.

We went to Woodman Point, which had this small jetty. Very nice for families, especially with young children, because if not you'd have to climb the rocks.

Not sure if you can see it but somewhere in the middle of the photo there's a crab amongst the rocks.

The birds are really clever (and lazy)! They'll hang around waiting for people to leave, then rush over to eat whatever's left behind, like freshly caught fish/extra bait.

First catch of the day (caught by me): a Flounder! Didn't know it's edible so we threw it back into the sea, but anyway I tried Flounder sashimi later on in Japan.

Don't know if it's the same crab, but anyway this one decided to come out. Looks damn pretty right!

Went back to Fremantle for dinner at this restaurant that we passed by a few times.

Day 8

Went to check out this place called E-Shed Markets which had a very nice description in those tourist brochures, but turned out to be a total waste of time. There is absolutely nothing interesting there and even the food tastes really bad.

After that we went to hunt for more fishing spots (went fishing again the next day) and ended up in Scarborough beach.

It is honestly the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. EVER.
Definitely want to stay somewhere with a view of that beach the next time I visit Perth.

Day 9
McDonald's breakfast in the car, then off we went to fishing spot #1. It was quite crowded and not children-friendly so we left for fishing spot #2 (below).

Apparently we didn't go at a very good time (around noon) so we didn't manage to catch any fish, but a very nice guy gave my sister this Herring.

Day 10 we went back to Singapore. So that's about it! :)

He's finally sitting in my room, on my bed. Many thanks to Yitian who bought it for me from Tokyo DisneySea and Chia Wei who delivered it to me this afternoon. :)

Tomorrow I'll be flying off to Duffy's hometown. Will be there for a week i.e. coming back next Sunday.

Perth 2010 Day 1-3

Here is the wayyyy overdue blog post on Perth (just to illustrate, I was there from 5th to 14th June).

Day 1
Sorry no photos cos the house wasn't very impressive, so I didn't bother taking any of it. Plus I think we were all so tired from the midnight flight (can't sleep on planes), so yeah tired & taking photos do not go together.

Day 2
We were staying in Fremantle, so headed to Fisherman's Wharf for a late lunch. If you remember (you probably don't) I was there last year too, but decided to try another eatery this time round.

The 2 girls on the left are my cousins, both 13 this year. The one in the middle, Laura, migrated to Perth with her family, so we were there mainly to visit them.

Day 3
Visited a macadamia nuts orchard called MacNuts and it was quite educational.

This is how macadamia nuts (and part of the tree) look like. They actually look like limes here haha.

So the nuts are processed in these machines + more machines inside the building which I didn't take photos of.
Photo below shows the nuts in 'phase 2' with the green part (whatever it's called) removed.

Ok can't remember what exactly we did on the subsequent days, but those with no photos probably indicate shopping time. Hehe. Will continue some other time!

In a rather sian/emo/dull mood today for i-don't-know-what reason (or maybe I do know).

Blogs can be so deceiving in a way, cos people only blog about what they want others to know.
So like Miss X can seem like she has everything going for her in life, but you don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
For emo blogs.... I guess they're probably really feeling miserable haha.

Anyway went out with Merrill and Rolland today after a very very long time.
I can't even remember when I last saw them.

Well just to give myself something to look forward to, I'm going to Tokyo next month! :)

Toy Story 3

Watched this yesterday and it was so good!
Taking into account that I grew up with it (Andy's 17, I'm currently still 19) and I quite like Disney's cartoons cos they look so nice, plus they can be quite insightful.

There were so many parts in the movie where I almost cried, but I didn't cos I thought it would be quite dumb to cry while watching a cartoon. Same for Bolt and Up btw (oops secret's out).

So I saw this toy, Zurg, at the end of the movie, but I couldn't remember its name.
Hence I went to google it and lo and behold, I realised that the last Toy Story movie was released in 1999! That's like even before my sister was born. No wonder she's never watched it.

Ok anyway I'm just gonna stop here so that I don't leak out any spoilers.

Have been trying to blog about Perth but I've been out so often/watching world cup at night hehe.
Hope I do finish the post... eventually.

Cold winter night

Half sitting/laying on the bed in my room in Perth.
The light is pretty dim, plus the weather outside is cold, so I'm in a bit of an emo mood.

Forgot to bring my contact lenses for this trip!
First time in all my holidays that I forgot to bring something so important.
And this place is so troublesome, you need a prescription or an appointment with an optometrist before they'll allow you to buy contact lenses, cos they're afraid of being sued if anything goes wrong.

Having mixed feelings now.
I miss home (Singapore), but at the same time I just want to stay here, away from everyone and everything back there. Maybe if I were in Japan then I wouldn't be having mixed feelings (I'd want to stay there).

Why are Western countries all like that? As in their shops all close at 5pm and late night shopping = close at 9pm.
Cannot imagine myself living in a place like this.

Sigh I really need to stop being so affected by my dreams. Although dreams are supposed to be a reflection of one's sub-conscience right? Which means that it's actually something that has been somewhere in my mind...

Okok I'm supposed to be on holiday. Good night! (yeah pretty cool how I sleep earlier here than at home right hehe)

Headed to Esplanade to watch Chicago The Musical with Darrell & Geraldine.

The singing was really good, but can't say the same for their dancing though. Felt it wasn't "all out" enough and some of them didn't fully complete their dance moves. Like you know how sometimes dancers just move on to the next step before they finish the current one?
But yeah it's not easy to sing and dance at the same time!
The songs are still playing in my head...

B&J @ Dempsey after (that's after Darrell brought us to this damn long bridge at Henderson, which was pretty alright until he told us that there's nothing below and it's just hanging there, wayyyyyy above sea level).

Had dinner with part of the class, at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao Holland V.
XLB buffet but ironically I didn't even eat 10, compared to some of them who ate like 15?

Celebrated Cecilia's birthday. I think the card is super cute! Especially considering how it was bought by 3 guys.

End of exams, start of long holiday!

Caught Iron Man 2 today after the last paper. Had 2 free tickets from LG hehe.
I didn't watch the first one, so I was quite amazed at how narcissistic Tony Stark/Iron Man is. He has to be like one of the most egoistic heroes from Marvel comics.

Anyway I thought the show was pretty good! It's 124 minutes long, yet I didn't feel bored at all throughout the entire movie. Should go watch it! Especially if your exams have just ended haha.

Wow it feels damn good to finally not have to study. Life is good. ;)

I've never had such a horrible paper before in my life.
I mean I was pretty horrified after my A level Math paper 1. But this owns it.

OB was just... like cos it's an open-book exam right, I think we were all flipping through our notes looking for stuff from every chapter to throw into our answers. Yeah, that bad.
But difficult papers are always better! So everyone will die together and hopefully some of us will have answers that are slightly more logical or "correct". Hehe.

So after a tiring week, I have a Stats paper on this coming Wednesday and Econs next Tuesday, then I'm done!

Don't know if it's exam stress (doubt so) or just me being blur (more likely): I thought that my 1st paper's on Wednesday so I went to check, and only because I was damn scared that it's actually on Tuesday. Turns out that it's on Thursday so wheeeee I have 1 more day to study.

I'm probably going to be stuck at home till exams start, which means like... 4 days of staying at home? Probably not a big deal to most but it is to me.

Ok break over, back to Accounting II.

Universal studios ★★★

Was at Universal Studios on Sunday! Cos we had guests from KL, so decided to bring them there.

So exciting! See the castle in "Far Far Away".

Big Hershey's store just outside the theme park. Really useful for cooling you down before you go into the theme park cos chances are, it's gonna be scorching hot like it was that day.
And the whole store smells like candy and butter.

Finally got our tickets after a really long time.

At this point I was just randomly snapping photos because it's pretty cool to have such a place in Singapore! Like usually when you go to Disneyland or Universal Studios you just feel like you're in another world, and now we actually have that here. In Singapore. Just a car/train/bus ride away, no plane needed.

Awesome.

Next up, "Ancient Egypt"! This is the place with the Revenge of the Mummy ride, which is basically this high-speed sort of indoor roller-coaster. Wouldn't say it's really scary, it's just very fast with lots of turns. Enough to get me nauseous while on the ride, like right after all the turns. But could be because my head was moving all over the place and when it was slowing down I knocked my head against the headrest. -_- And btw that was the 2nd time I knocked my head that day.

Haha loser I was damn scared that the sarcophagus (yesyes I googled to find this term) would open up to reveal a mummy.

The famous WaterWorld show! Was surprisingly good cos they 'imported' the actors and actresses from USA I think. Thought they were going to do some cheapo Asian version hahaha.

Alright so all in all, while I still prefer Disneyland (I like fantasy and magic ok!), I'm glad that Singapore now has at least something to show tourists, other than erm... the botanical gardens? :/

The first prank I received was on Pet society. The buggers put in a 3D button and after some time of 'converting to 3D', they happily went like gotcha! or something like that.
Felt cheated but mostly amused.

Anyway no school today hence no pranks. In fact I only remembered halfway through the day that it's the 1st of April today.

Good Friday is awesome cos it gives us a long weekend -- 4 or 5 days, depending on whether I go for lecture on Monday hahaha.

It's the smoothest I've ever tasted. Almost as smooth as the chawanmushi in Japan. It's probably Japan standard already.

I don't know what's with me lately, I've been typing a few sentences here, only to find myself abandoning the whole post after that.

Well I really don't know what to say except that I have an accounting test tomorrow that's a huge 15%.

And I'm gonna check out the NTU/NUS cluster for parade of schools (POS) this year. A little nervous cos I've not 'cheered' for about half a year I think? Like what if I can't remember how to do basic elevators and shoulder-stands...

Hehe btw it's e-learning week at NTU, so far I've had one e-lecture and one e-tutorial. Tomorrow's my first day of school for the week because I didn't think it was worth traveling to school today just for the Econs tutorial.

Stats test tomorrow, but someone just broke the news to me that we're getting back our OB Critical Thinking (CT) assignment tomorrow morning.
All you need to know about this assignment is that it's freaking 20% and from today's class, there have been many B's, some C's, few A's and (thank God) fewer D's.

So I'm supposed to be studying now, but now I have 2 things to worry about i.e. CT and stats test, when I should only have 1 thing on my mind.
And I really have all the reason in the world to worry about CT because my answer was VERY different from the conventional answer (not that I intended it to be that way), so I'll either do very well or very badly.

10% (stats test) in my hands tomorrow, I really should continue studying.

Caught the movie Dear John on Friday with Chee Wee. Wanted to watch it because 1) I read the book and 2) Channing Tatum's in it!

The movie was pretty draggy though, and I really didn't like Amanda Seyfried. They managed to film her at some unflattering angles that made her look like a fish with huge lips in a supposedly intimate scene, and actually kept the frame there for a few seconds.

Anyway I think Chee Wee was really bored and found this on Wiki:

Finally, tomorrow's the one day in this 5 day school week that I don't have anything due / any tests.
Feeling very relaxed (this won't last for long) and reflective at the same time.

I've never been the kind of girl (ref. Gracia) who'd bake cupcakes, muffins & cookies for her boyfriend or just friends in general.
On Valentine's day, the most I'd do would be to make cards for not everyone, but just my close friends.

I'm super "xiao jie" and I've been like that since I can remember. Like my kindergarten teacher was telling me how I fell in school once and was crying and going "very painful" just because there were a few scratches and a bit of blood. -_-
Yet when I was in such excruciating pain with my almost 90 degrees twisted foot, the only reason why I started crying was because it dawned upon me that I wouldn't be able to perform.

Ok have no idea what the point of this post is hahaha. I intrigue myself.

Some photos from the 1st 2 days of CNY, which coincidentally happened to be Valentine's day and Gracia's birthday (15 Feb).

This was on the 1st day of CNY and my aunt bought the same top as me! AND her daughter, my cousin, bought a skirt that I have. -_-

Day 2 afternoon was spent as usual at my mum's primary school teacher's house.

Every year we take a group photo and then she'll take photos with each individual family! So she has a few albums of all these photos, and it's pretty cool cos it also shows my growth from a baby to like... now.

Anyway I spent 19 hours (11am yesterday till 6am today) on my 'critical thinking' assignment for OB. I don't know whether to be amazed at my stamina (stopped only for meals and a bath) or at my immensely slow speed. Although to justify myself, I did extensive research and now have 16 articles in my Downloads folder (yes I just counted), excluding those that I deleted and are now in the trash.

So 5 hours of sleep later, here I am, about to study for my Econs and Accounting II tests tomorrow.

Just woke up from about 2 hours of sleep (don't start lecturing me on power naps and how I won't be able to sleep well tonight, cos I still will!). School is tiring indeed.

Dreamt of someone who I've not spoken to in years, and in my dream I was super courageous. I saw him, with hair like the Beatles (which is really impossible because he's in NS now), and just shouted his name.
To my surprise, he actually turned around with a big smile like he was so glad to see me.
And then even more surprisingly, I gave him a hug!

Definitely a dream. Not gonna happen.

On a side note, just ordered stuff from Gmarket yesterday! 4 out of my 8 items have already been delivered domestically. Can't wait can't wait!

Giving Google Chrome a 2nd chance because for some reason I can't download my shows in Safari.

So far it has proven itself to be quite efficient in blocking pop-ups. Also loads pages pretty quickly.

But the Bookmark Manager is not available for the Mac version yet, which means that I can't delete bookmarks?! And because I thought the browser would be smart enough not to save bookmarks twice, I re-imported my bookmarks from Safari. Well apparently it's NOT smart enough, so now I have like 2 copies of each bookmark.

I seem to be having Tuesday blues this week (instead of Monday blues).

This is... super exciting.

Admittedly, upon first glance, the iPad just seems like a gigantic iPhone. And since I already have an iPhone, why do I need an iPad right?
So I went to watch the Keynote and the iPad video (which can both be found here) to find out why Steve Jobs thinks that we need an iPad when we already have the iPhone.

I think the "magic" (to quote Steve Jobs) of the iPad is in the endless possibilities that it may provide.
It would be really cool to have all our thick textbooks on a single sleek, slim and light device. And omg it has iWork apps on it! So I could just bring the iPad to school and use that to take down notes. In fact, I wouldn't even have to print out notes cos I can just use the iPad. Plus we could use it for presentations too and be like the coolest group in class. Hahaha.

Ok maybe I'm a little biased, but whatever.
Although getting one would be pretty pointless if we still don't have an iTunes store in SG. Waiting to see if the book app store will be coming here too.

Btw saw this some time back. It's a MadTV ad for a different iPad. Erm quite gross but haha it became a reality! Sort of.

Was my mum's birthday, so we (my family) decided to try out the Singapore Flyer at night!

It's awfully difficult to take photos in the Flyer at night. #1 the glass is dirty so if you use flash all you'll see is white spots and a blurry background. #2 if you don't use flash, your photo will have weird extra objects like the lights and the screen reflected on the glass.

Look at the weird effect on the glass! Point proven.

Ok so I know this post is a little late, considering it's already the 3rd day of the new year. But better late than never right?

2009 has been pretty eventful for me.

I mean 'A' level results itself was already a huge event. Going from a highest grade of C and lots of U's and S's, to 4 A's. It really must have been God that turned the situation around for me.

Managed to get into a good course in a good university too.

Also got back together with Chee Wee after a 2 year break.

Went to Fukuoka, which I feel has the best food ever. Like even better than Tokyo, probably because the spring water there is cleaner?

Starting university really marked a new phase in my life.

I thought 'A' levels was bad, but university is even worse. :S But the people certainly made my 1st semester more bearable, even though they're all freaking smart and make me feel like dumb & dumber.

And next week the journey continues...

Went on a fishing trip yesterday!

Set off from ONE°15 to somewhere in between Kusu island and St John's island.

Imagine staying in Sentosa. It would probably feel like going home to a resort everyday.

So we went to their rescue! Hahaha

Started raining after that, so we decided to head back.

Didn't manage to catch any fish because it was low tide, but it was still pretty fun!

Stayed in Hotel Mulia, which is a 5 * hotel, fully decorated in Indonesian style = luxurious.

Basically throughout the trip we were visiting a few branches of this church there called GBI.

Yesterday was Rachel's (Joy's sister's) wedding day! It was a very good break from all the studying, even though it was just for a night.

Oh and speaking of studying, the Accounting paper was freaking like the A level Math paper. Apparently it was very difficult (I thought I was dumb/didn't study enough). Have no idea what grade I'm going to get now.

Ok so anyway, went to get my hair done at Ooosh! first. New salon, must make use of our resources right? :)

Decided to "Turn Hiding On" for my Dock last night, and it has increased my efficiency in doing work tremendously.

I think because I don't see all the other icons, my mind doesn't wander off to like the MSN messenger that is running in the background, or the loading iTunes Apps store page that I was waiting for.

And when someone talks to me on MSN, the icon still bounces! Like it just appears bouncing out of nowhere.

Also feel like I'm fully utilising the size of my screen cos all my windows are almost "full screen" now.

Sometimes I think I'm very easily satisfied. But not all the time!

Some of you may already know that I was hospitalised last Friday, discharged on Sunday.

For those who have been wondering what happened to me, here's the main story.

Discovered a swelling on my neck, went to see a GP, he said that it's most probably an infection of the lymph nodes. 1 week later it still wasn't getting better; in fact it was getting worse.
So on Friday after school decided to go to see a specialist.

Ended up at NUH because we know a doctor there who's an orthopedist and he treats for infections too. But since this thing is on the neck, he referred me to an ENT specialist in NUH.
Waited super long to see the guy who's just a consultant, not even senior consultant. After doing a scope and examining me, he said that I had to be warded so that they could administer antibiotics through a drip.

Ok so fine decided against my better judgment to just be warded in NUH cos my dad said if we were to change hospital we'd have to find another doctor and waste a lot of time.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.

Forget the long waiting time. When the guy finally came to insert the plug for the drip for me, it was sooooo painful. And he was an MO, not some houseman or new nurse. I think I actually cried harder than when I broke my foot.
And when he was drawing blood from me, he apparently (according to my mum since I obviously wasn't looking) just left the needle hanging there while blood was flowing out onto my arm.

So anyway in the end we changed hospital to Mount E.

Still don't know what the source of infection is, but at least it's responding to antibiotics so we're treating for the right thing.

My dad is amazing he plays the drums better than me. Maybe it's because I'm bad at it.

Weekend is finally here, but I don't really feel rested, apart from my extra hours of sleep last night.
Hardly have any time for myself!

2-3min presentation for Comm Funds, FM presentation and FM quiz coming up soon.
Can't wait for next week to be over then it'll be recess week!!! Although my recess week has more or less been eaten up by biz plan for IT and project for Accounting.

Leaving for school later today because the Biz Law prof cancelled the lecture AGAIN. This is like the 2nd time in the 3 weeks that he has taken over the previous prof?

Changed IT prof too, because the original one went for an urgent major op.
The new one... we all don't understand him.

Am becoming more studious by the day. I've already completed all my tutorials for this week!
May just start on next week's ones too.
My JC teachers would be very surprised to see how hardworking I am now.

Haven't played Sims 3 in damn long. Hello to the new nerd.

Amazingly had time to watch The Time Traveler's Wife yesterday, on my supposed birthday present shopping trip with Merrill and Rolland. In Tampines. It's totally the new Orchard, like it has almost everything.

The story is super sad! I almost cried! And I very rarely cry while watching shows.
A little draggy, but worth watching if you're an emotional person hahaha.

Am super tempted to get the book now, but I'm afraid that it'll distract me too much...

Ok off to mugging now. Need more clothes! I think I have to start re-wearing stuff already...

This week, school has really begun.

Lectures, seminars, tutorials.

It's so weird because I wasn't even this hardworking (which is still just the bare minimum) in JC. Like I didn't do almost all my tutorials in JC, except for GP and sometimes Bio and Chem, or Econs when it's like marked essays.

Have been awake for about 19 hours now, Zzzzzzz.
Hooray for Thursdays cos my first lesson is at 12:30pm.

Before I forget, I'll be in KL this weekend! Away from everything here...

My school week ended yesterday; no lessons today (and Wednesday too) because tutorials start next week. PTL for that.

BUT!

Already have an upcoming project for "Information Technology", if I decide to form a group and take the first assignment which has already been posted on edveNTUre. It's a sooner or later thing, so I'm thinking I might as well just do this one. It's about Second Life.

Next week onwards I'll be waking up at 6am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Healthy lifestyle I guess?

1st day of school

My very first lecture in NTU started at 8:30am today. What a "great" start indeed.

4 hour-long break after that.
One of the disadvantages of not staying in hall is that during such breaks, I have nothing to do. Thank God for nice class/group mates who stayed with me and kept me company. Even had time for them to teach me how to play Bridge haha.

Lunch time was pretty unpleasant because the weather was so bad and the queues were all so long. Plus food at canteen B.... not so nice.

Got lost while trying to find our way to the venue for our 2nd lesson, which was like about Communication. Pretty boring and useless, I feel.

Ok I guess on the whole, my 1st day of school was not bad after all. All that whining for nothing.... hahaha. And +++exp points because I slept all the way from Pioneer to around Bedok.

Just matriculated today; yes very late compared to SMU, not sure about NUS.
Khoo Pei Ling the slowpoke hasn't matriculated yet though, hopefully we'll be in the same group (group A)!

Actually come to think of it, my goals previously were all A level-related. And it's all over already.

Now a new phase is starting soon -- university life. With new beginnings will come new goals!
Woohoo so exciting, trying to psyche myself up haha.

Fukuoka + Trip to dentist

Hi folkzzz, way overdue photos from Fukuoka trip. It was actually to visit a church there, Fukuoka Harvest Church.

Upon arrival (at about 7 or 8am):
The building behind us is actually some sort of chapel, mainly for weddings I think.
Looks like a painting.

Our first meal in Fukuoka, at a restaurant specializing in Mentaiko (fish eggs).
SUPER CHEAP AND GOOD. Plus abundance of Mentaiko! There was an entire tube of it on the table.

Headed to Daizaifu street after lunch for some sight-seeing. It's a place with a lot of shrines and one big temple.

Finally could check-in to our hotel...

And after a long day, supper at Ichiran Ramen! Really the best that there is. Not exaggerating.
Extra egg to go with the ramen. Japanese eggs have orange yolks and they taste a lot nicer!

The Japanese are so warm and sweet. They gave all of us gifts! I think it's like their culture... But still, greatly appreciate it. Definitely wanna go back there again.

Ok on a separate note, went to see the dentist today to discuss me putting on braces (YES FINALLY).
Took some funny photos with my mouth open in a very weird way, which obviously I'm not going to upload here.

The dentist had to make a mold of my teeth using this creamy thing which hardens.
Well after the thing hardened, it kind of got stuck, so I couldn't close my mouth for quite long. Imagine all the saliva... ewwwwwww.

Sigh 2 and a half years of wearing braces, plus seeing the dentist every month.

Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince

Here are my 2 cents worth on the show.

Too much important information was left out in this movie!!!
Like the memories of the Gaunt family and Voldemort returning to the house with the snake on the door, where he kills his uncle? That's actually pretty significant, I feel. People who didn't read the books are going to be even more lost in the next movie.

Sigh also was expecting them to focus more on the half-blood prince. I mean the title already shows that he (through the textbook) plays an important role in the story right.

And since when are Harry, Ron and Hermione so caught up with BGR?!
Read some review about people preferring Twilight to Harry Potter because of the romance in the movie, hence the director of HP decided to add in more romance...........

Oh well at least the gloomy sets of this installment pave the way for the even gloomier Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. Haha and Ron is really quite entertaining.

Guess the movie is not bad on the whole, but just felt (no surprise here) that it didn't manage to capture the essence of the book. That's the problem with having an imaginative mind which creates vivid images of each scene.

Then again, it's not like I'm a professional critic. Go watch the movie and judge for yourself!

Off to the zoo this afternoon because the birthday girl wanted to see her cheetahs.

Actually even when she saw the cake, she thought someone else was having a birthday celebration, until we started singing.

Went out with Peiling and Gracia today after a very long time.
So lazy, almost didn't wanna go because it was raining.

For the first time Bugis Street wasn't an oven!

Oh and Accessorize is having a sale again. 50% off selected items. Not as good as the previous sale though.

Anyway, watched Ice Age 3 on Sunday with family. It is quite boring actually. I expected it to be an entertaining cartoon, but it got so uninteresting that I dozed off for a few minutes. My cousin (12 years old) and uncle too.

Next movie: HARRY POTTER & THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!
Re-reading the book now hahaha. My 3rd time reading it, and I still find it exciting. J.K. Rowling is awesome.

Oh btw, will be going to Fukuoka, Japan, from the 18th-22nd of this month. Ramen! :)

Woke up early this morning to go to NTU Medical Centre (ya kiasu ok, didn't want to be stuck in a long queue).
Hmm realised that it doesn't really take THAT long to go there after all. Takes slightly more than an hour, which is like a bit longer than the time taken to go to/come back from SA?

Ahh but Peiling and I were observing the NTU students, and it's like... omg, we're going to be in that school. With that type of schoolmates. Er............ Lol.
Peiling was saying that SMU has the best-dressed students, followed by NUS and then *ahem* NTU, the last. Now when I see T-shirt+FBTs, I think of NTU.

Haha hilarious, I found someone on a forum saying that maybe our cohort will revolutionize NTU and liven it up, and someone else replied like "NTU needs more people like you!"

Insect-filled week.

First I saw a medium-sized cockroach appear out of nowhere on my table, and then it slowly crawled under my table. Obviously I was too scared to catch it right? So I asked my grandma (who was soundly asleep) to get it, but by the time she got out of bed, the freaking cockroach disappeared already. This happened at night.

Next day, also at night, the stupid cockroach decided to reappear. It then attempted to hide among my bags and almost went under my bed.
It got killed in the end.

2nd encounter. Was walking to the mrt station with my mum when she suddenly stopped. It took me awhile to realise that there was a beetle, which was camouflaged with the pavement.
Quickly brisk-walked away from it, only to see a dead one ahead.

3rd one happened last night.
Was eating hokkien mee at some place in Joo Chiat. Suddenly, this weird insect that looked like a cockroach flew into my drink!
Jumped out of my seat screaming.

Argh I wonder why God even bothered creating insects.
